General

  • I once had an ethereal forest fae show up in all white, make a perfect pot, and walk away clean. If you share her preternatural gifts, then we can assume you’re exempt from the standard precautions.

    • If you are, alas, a mere mortal, please wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty. Clay usually, but not always, washes out.

    • Aprons are available for $20 a piece

  • I'd like to say the studio reveals itself when you're ready... but Google Maps is generally more reliable.

    That said, we're tucked into the middle of the block, and the last 100 feet can feel like an epic quest your first time. Follow the directions below, and you'll find us.

    • We’re located at 3020 Bridgeway in Sausalito. 

    • You can only access the studio when headed north on Bridgeway, you'll see a big sign on the right with our logo. 

      • If you're coming from the north, you'll take Bridgeway to Coloma and then make a U-turn at the light. Google should direct you to do this. 

    • Turn right at the sign and follow the alley all the way back. 

    • We have free use of any parking PAST the chain link fence. 

    • Centered is on the second floor of the taller building on the right. Take the outdoor stairs that lead to the deck and we're the only entrance!

    If you end up wandering the Marinship and you encounter a boatyard, an artist commune, or a portal to Narnia, you’re probably on Gate 5 road and you’ve gone too far. Head back to Bridgeway and follow the steps above.

  • Only if you've always wanted one and don't mind sourcing live mice. Email and text are considerably lower maintenance.

    Got a big question or want to schedule something? Email is your friend. Longer conversations are much easier to keep track of there.

    As a general rule:

    • Questions about classes or private lessons usually see a reply within 3 business days.

    • More involved or non-urgent emails may take up to a week. (A full time corporate job + running a studio, teaching, and occasionally remembering to feed myself keeps life delightfully full.)

Students

  • We're spirited, but not in the Spirit sense. No baggage fees. No surprise charges. No upselling a wheel seat with extra legroom.

  • An ancient prophecy foretold that arriving too early risks interrupting the magic that binds the space to my will. I mean, that mostly includes gossiping with the tea, pep-talking the clay, and negotiating with the kiln... but still.

    Ten minutes early is perfect. Any earlier and you'll wander into my carefully choreographed chaos.

  • Life happens! I won't take it personally, but the clay might. She's a little dramatic when she feels neglected.

    • If you know you’ll be gone ahead of time, connect with me and I’ll help you take additional precautions to ensure your in-progress work stays wet and workable.

    • If you need to miss a class, I am happy to work with you to catch you up on what you missed.

    • You are welcome to attend the alternate class as a make up for any missed classes. (i.e. if you are enrolled in Monday, you can attend on any Wednesday as a make up.)

      • The curriculum is different in each class. Please be prepared to work independently during the first hour of any make up class.

      • You may not have access to a wheel on your make up day, but you can always glaze or handbuild during your make up time.

  • Aren’t we all basically plants with more complicated emotions?

    After all, we need light, water, nourishment, rest, and the right environment to thrive. We also tend to do our best work when we're not running on the emotional equivalent of low battery mode.

    Grounding is simply a chance to transition from the outside world into the studio. After a day of work, traffic, notifications, and life's general chaos, we spend 10 to 15 minutes helping our minds catch up with our bodies before we touch the clay.

    No chanting. No pressure. No forced vulnerability. Just a little space to gently move your body and take a breath.

  • I'm so proud of you! Was it the planted kind... or the kind you roll? No judgment. I'm just calibrating the appropriate amount of eye contact.

    • I'd love for you to join us for the grounding during your first class, since that's when we introduce ourselves and settle into the space together.

    • After that, it's completely optional. Think of it less as a requirement and more as an invitation to transition from the outside world into the studio.

    • If you choose to skip the grounding, just arrive by 6:15 PM so we can begin demos on time.
